Dining Out in Montrose, Gaines, and Clio

Northern Genesee County is home to many great dining options. For foodies in the Gaines, Clio, or the Montrose area, there are several great places to stop in for an unforgettable meal.  

White’s Streetside Tavern located in downtown Montrose offers a no nonsense, comfortable atmosphere with great food and fantastic desserts. Stop in for a bite and order a pizza, burger, chicken tenders, fried shrimp, smothered chicken, lasagna, steak, salmon, salad, a sub, a wrap, or one of their great appetizers.  

The Montrose Pub is a fantastic place to stop in if you are a fan of live music, fun, and good times. With frequent events planned, the pub offers a full bar and a lot of food choices: pizza, stromboli, coneys, sandwiches, burgers, fish and chips, wraps, and even desserts. Pop in for karaoke, a live band, trivia, or just to hang out with good people.  

Montrose Pizza & More is a great option if you have a hunger for some pizza. Other than pizza they offer breadsticks, garlic toast, salad, pasta, wings, and subs.  

Montrose’s Cimple Coffee is a comfortable place to stop for a drink and some peace. Offering coffee, frappes, refreshers, lattes, and more, this is a wonderful place to start the day.  

Montrose Orchards may have delicious apples, cider, and other items throughout the year and Debbie’s Kitchen is what we’re interested in. Debbie’s offers delicious pies, donuts, cakes, bread, cookies, and pastries, and also is home to their Dinner Down on the Farm events. This special event offers diners a home-cooked sit-down meal. The fun of Dinner Down on the Farm is that the meals are announced closer to the date of the event and provide an air of delicious mystery.  

Lucky’s Steakhouse in Clio will hit the spot if you are looking for steak or ribs. Start with one of their many soups or salads and then move on to the main course. Try flatbread, order a burger or sandwich, get a steak or a chop, and dine on shrimp, lobster, grouper, salmon, crab cakes, or maybe ribs, which are what you’re craving. They have a large menu and a full bar and are perfect for special occasions.  

Andy’s Country Chef is just what you want if you are looking for comfort food. With rotating specials and a focus on home-cooked favorites, they have something for everyone. Filling breakfasts like biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash and eggs, pancakes, waffles, or eggs are sure to start your day off on the right foot. For dinner get yourself some chicken tenders, a sandwich, pasta, hamburger, seafood, pork chops, barbecue, steak, or many other options.  

Clio Roadhouse Bar & Grill offers fun and food for the whole family. During the day, it is a great place for the family to come in for a big meal, watch the game, or play their arcade games. In the evening, the bar becomes a bigger focus. On the bar side, they offer wine, a wide variety of beers, and many fine hard liquors. For food, they have the usual bar fare but elevated featuring appetizers, a variety of burgers, pizza, loaded fries, wings, specialty sandwiches, and entrees like fish and chips and smothered chicken.  

The Gaines Bar is a favorite in town and with good reason. The bar offers patrons a friendly spot to slow down and cut loose and features delicious burgers, wraps, tacos, pulled pork, sloppy Joe’s, and regular drink specials. The bar also has trivia nights and live music on occasion.  

These are far from the only options in the area as there are many, many more. Clio alone features many places to stop in for a bite. If you’re in the mood for international food, then you have Don Felipe Mexican Restaurant, China Moon, or Oriental Express. If you want the comfort and fun of a bar and grill, then you have Nite-Cap Tavern, Mug-Shotz Bar & Grill, or Billy’s Pine Run Inn. Finally, there is Twins Pizza & Grill which has a wide range of delicious pizzas and pasta in a casual atmosphere. It’s clear that if you’re hungry in the northern Genesee County there are plenty of places to go. Get something delicious tonight!
