Flint & Genesee is an unforgettable destination to explore with the whole family. With kid-friendly museums, amazing parks – both indoor and outdoor, and world-class arts and culture including the largest planetarium in the state, there are plenty of ways to make lasting memories with the whole family in Flint & Genesee.

MORNING

Begin your day at one of the kid-friendly museums in Flint including the Flint Children’s Museum and Sloan Museum of Discovery. Both of which have amazing activities for young and older children. 

The Children’s Museum has hands-on activities including the Discover Zone and rotating exhibits. Meanwhile, the Sloan combines interactive exhibits for kids and adults, an explorative water table, a model town for kids to explore, history exhibits that both kids and adults will love, and an automotive gallery. 

LUNCH

For lunch, the family can check out one of Flint & Genesee’s many coney islands for an authentic Flint-style coney. Westside Diner on Ballenger Hwy. is a 50s style diner featuring American eats like burgers and omelets, and even serves kids meals in a vintage cardboard car. 

If you’d rather bring your lunch, there are plenty of great places to have a picnic at a local park. Stepping Stone Falls, open in the spring, summer, and early fall, offers picnic tables and a great view of the human built falls. 

AFTERNOON

If you want to experience more nature in Flint & Genesee, you can check out one the many hiking and biking trails. Take a more in-depth look at nature at For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum. In Burton, this nature preserve offers hiking trails, a butterfly garden, a barrier free treehouse, and a visitor’s center where you can explore the science around nature. 

The family can also check out Sky Zone Flint, an indoor trampoline park with over 15,000 square feet of interconnected trampolines. The park offers world-class activities such as Extreme Dodgeball, trapeze, launch pads, foam pits, dunk zones, and a battle beam. 

DINNER

Catch an early dinner at one of Flint & Genesee’s kid-friendly establishments. For some dining and entertainment, check out Huckleberry Junction Playhouse Theater for pizza and an animatronic show. 

You can also take the family to one of Flint & Genesee’s many Mexican restaurants including Tia Helita’s, a fourth-generation family-owned restaurant offering authentic Mexican dining including appetizers, entrees, kid’s meals, and a full bar. 

Evening

After dinner, entertainment can come in a variety of forms. One way to keep the kids entertained is with a show at Longway Planetarium, the largest planetarium in Michigan featuring 130 seats under a 60-foot dome. The Planetarium’s shows include science-focused exploration and fun laser light shows. 

Another option to finish off the night is with a round of bowling at one of Flint & Genesee’s many bowling centers. Check out B’s Bowling Center in Flint which features 24 lanes, a lounge, glow bowling, billiards, and a game room.
